Following the Battle of Kursk the Soviets began to develop a heavy tank to face the German Panthers and Tigers. The IS 2 featured a 122mm gun which as well as featuring good armour penetration also fired a very effective high explosive shell, perfect for destroying German bunkers and emplacements. The 1944 IS-2m featured a simpler design front hull, removing the “step” from the glacis. It also featured a faster firing variant of the main gun and better fire control.
The model is incredibly detailed and comes with a selection of stowage, including rolled tarps and ammo boxes.
