The US M4 “Sherman” was the most widely produced and deployed Allied tank of the Second World War. Capable of matching the earlier German Panzer III’s and IV’s it was outclassed by the German Panthers and heavy tanks such as the Tiger and Tiger II. What the Sherman lacked in fire power and armour was more than made up for in numbers, mechanical reliability and ease of manufacture and repair in field.
The first production models of M4A3 version came of the assembly line in August, 1942. With a superior engine design the M4A3 was deemed easier to crew and maintain. Its 75mm gun was regarded as satisfactory until it faced the sloped armour of superior German tanks in France in 1944.
The model is incredibly detailed and comes with a range of stowage, fuel cans, spare tracks, ammo boxes and a .50 cal MG.
