DMH Plastic Gallows Set

Our 12th plastic set is the Gallows. The kit contains one frame which houses the scaffold and four miniatures. If you head over to the Gallows product page, you can see the instruction sheet.

Here is the frame shown at its true size:

I put mine together like so, but I made some slight adjustments to the miniatures using spares from my Gunfighters box.

With a few further extras from my Gunfighters and Gunfighters II sets, I made my baying mob, demanding justice for the wrongs done to them by the two villains now condemned to hang.

Sprayed with Colour Forge Wight Bone, then a dusting of white spray, then a subtle white drybrush.

Next was Sand Golem Speedpaint for a warm base. On the box cover, the gallows was undercoated light grey with a Pallid Bone Speedpaint to give a more aged look.

The ropes and lever were painted in and the rope washed with Army Painter Dark Tone wash. I used an AK Interactive Real Colours Chipping marker pen for all the nail heads then I just drybrushed with a pale sand colour then again with the same colour whitened up. This had the added bonus of highlighting all those nail heads.

The ropes were highlighted til I was happy then I used a bit of Army Painter Dark Tone for some weathering but this last stage was mostly done with AK Interactive Wash for Wood.

The crow is from our Single Storey Building kit. Next stage is to paint the baying mob, then onto the condemned men, the executioner and the town mayor.

I did a quick job on the baying mob and finished their bases with AK Interactive Light Earth paste, a few Gamer's Grass tufts, then a combo of three Gamer's Grass pigments from their pigment set: Dry Earth, Yellow Lichen and Desert Dust.
